An interventional radiologist licensed to practice in Texas, Dr. James Summa spends his spare time participating in aviation activities. Dr. James Summa, a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), also flies radio control airplanes.
The AMA supports more than 175,000 members and their passion of model aviation as a sport and recreational activity. Members gain access to rewards programs, education opportunities, aviation-related publications, and events.
Among upcoming engagements is the AMA Expo on January 8, 2016, in Ontario, California. For three days, aviation enthusiasts will gather at the Ontario Convention Center to learn from speakers including PrecisionHawk business development director Tyler Collins and Towed Glider Air Launch System inventor Gerry Budd.
Additionally, a static competition will be open to all parties who wish to demonstrate their skills in glider aircraft and model rockets, among other categories. An exhibitors’ hall and Swap Shop are also planned.
Tickets can be purchased at the convention center on the days of the expo. Free admission is available to active-duty military members, all children under 12, and others participating in such organizations as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Civil Air Patrol Cadets, and others.
